Neutrals, grays and blues are still trending. Color is sneaking back in in small ways, but it is slow to take on. Over the past few years, especially, our homes have become our work places, our gathering places and our sanctuaries. Consumers are still enjoying a more simplified color palette with maybe pops of color here and there. Neutral upholstered furniture with colorful pillows and maybe a rug with color would be the most color we get right now. Kitchens are white and gray so the living spaces off of those are still that color palette.
Traditional design is always in, so if you love an historic Toile fabric, or a Jacobean floral print and can use them in your home, please do! Consumers now are just using them more sparingly than 15 years ago where the wallpaper matched the fabric on the windows and it was all vibrant and busy! Now we see those prints in one chair or pillows on a neutral sofa. Small geometric prints are still very on-trend as well as leafy botanical or simple floral prints.
Silks and silk jacquards are out. Textures are in! Especially since we are monochromatic in color, we are seeing interest in the types of fabrics. Furs… boucle… animal hides… wovens…
We love how a monochromatic color scheme and have life with vibrant textures.
Roman Shades, Roman Shade valances and straight style valances are very much on trend. Simple, straight styles and designs with minimal pleats. Drapery panels are always a good choice. Mounting them above and outside of the window frame to maximize light is how we do things now. No more closing in the window with the shades or draperies. Only at night or if needed for privacy. Especially in climates where we have darker, gray winters, we like light!
Motorization is a trend that is coming on full-force. Any style of a treatment that opens and closes can be put to a motor – shutters, draperies, shades. With the smart home automation emerging with lighting and voice control technology, window treatments are right on track with having them open and close with a touch of a button or a voice command. This technology is especially useful in hard to reach applications or a whole wall of windows where you can seamlessly open and close them all together.
A professional will always steer you in the right direction for window treatments that are currently trending. Of course we want to solve your problems with controlling light, temperature and privacy the best we can.
